Sharon K. Middleton’s historical romance book titled "Beyond McCarron’s Corner: Sassy’s Story" is a story that finds Sarah Searcy, aka Sassy and her two dogs trekking into Georgia’s Cohutta Wilderness and suddenly and mysteriously disappearing. Something has happened to her, no phone contact, no notes, no clues, nothing. She had been distraught over her husband's death; could that had something to do with her disappearance? Her stepson, Rick, and her red-headed brother Jim are beyond themselves over her missing. What has happened to her; is she lost, hurt, dead or what? The story is actually an edgy unvarnished tale of a fictional adventure based on the famed Culper Spy Ring and not simply about a woman who mysteriously disappears in the 37,000 acres of the Cohutta Wilderness. Middleton juxtaposes the views of today with the struggles of our nations' founders. The story Middleton writes Sassy into those pages of colonial history. She becomes an integral addition to the Culper Spy Ring. She embraces the people that fate has surrounded her with and quickly finds one man that she falls in loves with, gets pregnant and gives birth. Wait, do all these things really happen? Or could this adventure be really, just a dream? Did Sassy really find a portal that plunged her into the midst of our Revolutionary War and if she did, can she find a way out? Will she want to leave her new found home and love to return to the future and to those who are looking for her? Sassy’s predicament forces her to face life-altering decisions. She can sit back and watch her world simply tear apart, or she can stand and fight for both her country’s independence and her own. The story is fraught with intrigue, seemingly insurmountable obstacles but laced with love and lots of passion and emotions. Based on historical events and set during the bittersweet years of our Revolution. The story is filled with the hope and faith that fortified our young nation in its infancy. With so many questions left unanswered, how will this story end? No spoilers here, you’ll have to read the book to find out how the story concludes. |
